What is industrial hemp?

The wide variety of Cannabis sativa L, collectively used in industries is known as Industrial Hemp. Industrial hemp is actually used for agricultural and industrial functions. Hemp is basically grown for their high quality seeds and fiber. Hemp also produces high oil and hurds. Industrial hemp has a very low THC level (delta-9 tetrahydrocannabinol); they have a very high CBD (cannabidiol) level. The THC level of hemp is less than 1% and in Canada and Europe the modern authorized level for development of hemp is 0.3%. The ratio of CBD to THC is larger than 1.

Hemp grows quite gregariously in the garden. It spreads rapidly and there is less chance of this plant to get infection from pests. Since this plant grows gregariously and over an extended area, it does not allow any weeds to overdevelop in between. This is another advantage of this plant. No pesticide is required to keep this plant safe and free from infection. It has its own resistant mechanism. For this reason the hemp fibers are long lasting and do not contain any chemicals like the cotton fibers which require a large amount of pesticide to keep it free from damaging impact of the pests and weeds.
