How is hemp manufactured?

Presently, there are broadly 3 groups of Cannabis varieties that are being cultivated.

A type of hemp is cultivated for their fibers. Long stems and little branching distinguish this type. This variety is called industrial hemp.

The second type of hemp is grown for seed from which hemp oil is extracted.

The third type of hemp is grown for medicinal and recreational purposes.

Generally hemp has a natural growth and grows well without herbicides and pesticides. Hemp bast fibers are considered to be one of the longest natural soft fibers. Hemp that is grown for production of fiber is planted closely so that tall, slender plants with long fibers are grown. According to research results, hemp herbs should be harvested before the flowering starts. This early cropping is required because if the flowering starts, the fiber quality declines. If early cropping occurs the herb’s maturity is obstructed and the herb tends to have a potential source for drug materials.

Hemp fibers are more mildew-resistant, and are more insulative. This means that clothes that are manufactured from hemp will keep you warmer in winter and cooler in summer. Hemp fibers are more absorbent to dyes and have an ability to screen out ultraviolet rays.

Hemp, unlike marijuana has many uses. Around 25,000 products can be produced from hemp which includes perfume, paper, carpets, insulation, diapers and hair conditioners.
